CREATING A FEATURE WALL

Feature / gallery walls are becoming a real trend. I myself have been obsessed with them for ages and when I got my bedroom decorated last year my plain white walls needed something to make them more personal and to make it feel more like a bedroom. When wanting to grab some inspiration for a feature wall the perfect place is Pinterest. When I was creating mine I didn't really think about it too much and kind of just done it but if you really want to know how to arrange the pictures then Pinterest is amazing. Making your wall can be as big or small as you want it to be it all depends on the wall space you have. When I originally wanted to create a feature wall I was a bit worried that it was going to cost a lot of money. I thought I would have to buy frames and a lot of prints but my wall came in at an extremely cheap price.

You can use anything from magazine pages, cards or in my case postcards which I had a lot of as I bought a set of them in TKMaxx a few years ago. I selected a few prints that I and some Polaroid prints that I liked, then using some different washi tape attached it to my wall. The possibiies are endless and you can really experiment. I used some washi tape to create a frame around some of my postcards and I even created my own little print. To make my feature wall a little more full I added a Pom Pom garland which I bought in Accessorize which I felt really made the wall. A few tips I have for creating a feature wall are : hang your prints in odd numbers, use different colours or patterns of washi tape, pick prints you really love and have someone else to look at the wall to see if the pictures are straight and level.

I loved creating a feature wall and I want to cover my whole bedroom in prints, it really is an effective way to give your bedroom a lift and it can be as cheap or expensive as you wish. If you would like to see my feature wall I have picture of it on my Instagram.

Have you created a feature wall ?
