I have a confession, my eyelids are extremely oily. Yes I know its not exactly the most attractive trait or something to be proud of. Since I have been faced with oily eyelids it means that any eyeshadow that I attempt to apply finds a way to come off! I needed a solution fast, was I going to have to spend the rest of my days eye make up free, no! The formula I needed was a base that I could apply to my eyelid before I applied any eyeshadow above are the three that I found worked for me and banished those oily eyelids. The first product that I found worked was a primer from Tesco's own make up brand, it's a creamy consistency but dries as a powder. The Maybelline Colour Tattoo is also a great base to help all the product stick. You can use a lighter more neutral shade but I like to use On and On bronze as it gives warmth to an eye look which complements my skin and eyes.

The last on my list is a new edition in pencil form the Rimmel eyeliner in Taupe , a very neutral shade that doesn't only disappear my oily eyelids but also counteracts any redness or discolouration. The eyeliner can also be used on the bottom lash line or water line. My verdict, a primer really helps eyeshadow to stick and increases the pigmentation of eyeshadow. So maybe oily lids is a blessing in disguise as my eyeshadows always lasts far longer than everyone else's. Next on the list, I'm thinking Urban Decays Primer Potion .

What's your primer option ?

  1. I love MUA's primer. It's great, does the job and more importantly doesn't break the bank!

  2. I've heard the elf primer is a great dupe for the Urban Decay ones! Love the sound of this Tesco product x

  3. Colour Tattoos are great but when I'm not going for a really bold look, I prefer using transparent primers. And my primer of choice is UD Primer Potion ;). I love it, my eyeshadows don't move for 12 hours!

    1. i agree sometimes a coloured base makes the look more bold. most people love it

  4. I don't know why but only recently my eyelids are becoming very oily and eyeshadows smudge every time, it's very annoying! I don't like the Maybelline Color Tattoos as primers too much, they don't last well on me, but I tried the UD Primer Potion and it's very nice, though a great dupe for it is the Kiko Eye Base in my opinion :)
