Girls Guide To Beautiful Blogging | Social Media

For the next few weeks me , Maddy and Brittany will be hosting a Girls Guide to Beautiful Blogging which we will give you the low down on everything to become a blogger, whether you have just started a blog or have been blogging for a couple of years hopefully are selection of posts will come in handy. To start off with I will be taking about social media probably one of the most essential aspects of blogging. It took me well over a year before I learnt the right and wrongs of social media and how I could use it to promote and help my blog grow organically. I currently have an Instagram , Facebook and Twitter for my blog. Twitter and Instagram are probably my most established social media sites as I  often forget about Facebook but it can also be a great way to promote your blog.

Promoting New Posts
Every time I have a new post on my blog I immediately send a tweet something like " Are you looking for a new nail polish remover ? Well, I  might just have the thing (blog link) (has tags) this lets people know that you have got a new exciting post about nail polish remover without giving away any important details so they have to go check it out. We have to remember that not everyone uses Bloglovin' to check out their favourite blogs so if you don't let others know on various social media sites then they won't know that you have a new post and if you have put the effort and time into a new post you wan people to read. I also have started to use Instagram to promote new posts. I simply email myself the image that I have taking with my DSLR so I can upload it to Instagram to let them know I have a new post.

Scheduling Social Media
I think this is what I hate doing the most when it comes to blogging. Scheduling tweets throughout the day when I don't have the opportunity to tweet. I often schedule on week days every three hours until about ten at night. People might think this is a lot but you really have to sell your self and your blog , when ever I do this I get far more interactions as I am letting different people know at different times of the day. I schedule my tweets using Tweetdeck , I hate doing it but it really pays off.

Interacting With Other Bloggers
I never knew about this when I first started blogging and I think it contributed to me not gaining any readers. There are many chats throughout the week which I love, they can help you interact and get chatting to other bloggers , gain advice and there is even a link swap at the end so you can promote your blog by sending your blog link and even find some new reading. Elise done a great post on all the blogging chats which I would recommend to check out. This has been the biggest contributor to me gaining new readers.

To make life easier I think its very handy to own a tablet or iPhone as you can tweet or check your social media at anytime of the day which I often do . It is important that your social media sites don't become spammy that people will start to unfollow and not read any of your tweets so make sure to have a few personal or chatty tweets in there too as this makes people stay and follow.

I hope that this post has helped any of you social media newbies. Next week I will be taking about how to keep your readers coming back for more and if you have any blogging questions tweet them using the has tag askbbgirls. Also make sure to check out the other girls posts.

Have you got any advice when it comes to social media?

  1. This post is so useful! I've only just got twitter and I'm already feeling the benefits, I can't believe I didn't have an account for so long!

  2. I really need to schedule tweets. I have tweets scheduled so about an hour after I've posted my blog post, it links it on twitter, but then that's it.
I do see people posting numerous times a day which does seem to pay off for them, I need to get out of the habit of "I don't want to annoy anyone," as like you say you have to sell it. :)

    Great tips ^_^

  9. I love your tip about the "mystery" in your tweets. I'll have to check that. I usually include the brand in my tweets, in case they want to retweet, but I think I'm going to spice things up!
